Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Posted in HP by Lakshmi Narayanan on April 11th, 2007

Its about ten days since the covers for different editions of HP and DH were released. But my project works hindered me digging up the web for images.Found it just now and thought of putting it in blog.US Edition cover is stunning! It features both Harry and He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named(I’m preventive,I care about my blog) standing amongst ruins in an orange sky background. The first thing that struck me on seeing this image is Harry’s most famous and prominent scar in his forehead is missing (Why?). UK Child Editon cover sucks and its no match for US one(Its super childish for even children,Mary GrandPre).Adult version features a Slytherin locket in a pleasing black background.Half-blood Prince’s cover is better than these for sure. But its not bad,it looks good.

The book is scheduled to be released worldwide on July 21.The OoTP movie also scheduled to be released on July 13. Surely July will be a truly great month for HP fans.Has July arrived?

On the US cover: Harry’s scar is there- its just hidden by his hair. If you blow up the picture and crop out everythin but his head on the full cover version you’ll be able to see it.

That’s a bit of a harsh criticism of the UK edition. I think that the US one looks rather more childish than the UK/rest of the english speaking world’s covers. They are both great, and are two individual artist’s equally valid interpretation of the events of this awesome story. Harry in the US one, to me, has always appeared goofy, comical. The OOTF UK cover continually blows me away and remains my favourite cover yet.

Yes, the US one has always been more “kidish” but it is a childerns book first. Even if the adults like them, it is not made for us. Also I think that the UK cover is picture of a side event, a big one, but still a side one to the main point that happend in the book. The US one is the Great Hall at the every end. Not the most important scene (Harry walking into the forset) but right up there.

My cover is all messed up, and its the US edition. The raised lettering is not in alignment with the ink words, both on the title and the author.
