Karnataka bans Night Shifts for Women-Where is equal opportunity?

Posted in Indian Politics by Lakshmi Narayanan on May 5th, 2007

Women in Karnataka are likely to be barred from working in Night Shifts.IT employees are exempted though.(Who else will bring revenues?).Karnataka Government is citing safety of women employees for this absurd rule. How come this rule is passed in assembly? The home for Silicon Valley of India is moving to stone age for sure. How in a democratic country which proclaims itself as giving equal rights to all gender, caste, religion etc. proposes an inequality to an entire gender? It’s stupidty at its high. Hope Women are not banned from employed though in future.

Guys,Let us protest for equal opportunity.Ban Night shifts for men too!!!!!!

You talk about equal opportunity? I’ve read news of girls getting raped, stabbed and choked to death in Karnataka, Bangalore (India). How about you guys think a little about security and freedom before you start talking about equal opportunity employment?
