BSNL broadband to offer 2Mbps

with 7 comments

The state-owned telecom service Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited will provide 2Mbps for all broadband users using the 256Kbps service without any additional charges or any hardware change. This was announced by Union Telecommunication and IT minister Mr.DayanithiMaran in a telecom conference in NewDelhi. He also declared the year 2007 as “India Broadband Year” and  challenged all private players to catch the data rate given by BSNL

The high speed rate of 2MBps is worthless without the relaxation of data limits for download and upload.I had not yet managed to get the broadband service.Im still using the age old dial-up.Eventhough the plans were lucrative the download/upload limits keep me away from broadband.Im such a data hungry guy continuously downloading from Internet. As broadbant wont suit me for a while im waiting for better plans to come in future.

  1. I agree.
The 1 or 2GB d/l u/l limit is the dumbest thing that Ive heard of. A “normal” web page these
days is around 1-1.5 MB. Do the math, u can surf just 30 MB everyday lol.

And “they” want BroadBand to take off!!!!

  6. Yes it is such a foolish thing that they are giving us 2MBPS speed and giving just 1 gb d/u limit. And they are saying that “2007 WILL BE A TRUE BROADBAND YEAR”
