Tired of signing-up for many websites? Is is hardtime for you remembering login and passwords for all sites?Try OpenID.It is a free authentication framework for identifying an user in internet. It helps us to use a single login and password for all the openid accepted sites. At first you sign-up with an openid provider (myopenid, livejournal, aol etc). They provide you an URI(mine is http://blntechie.myopenid.com)similar to those for identifying websites. To learn more, visit openid.net.It has detailed explantions of its working and list of sites supported.Once you start using it you will admire its simplicity.OpenID system is slowly catching up and there arent many sites which support OpenID at present. Some popular sites which supports OpenID are Zooomr,Livejournal,AOL,Jyte etc.If many sites starts using OpenID ,it will become the de-facto user identity system.I believe OpenID.

Update:-Wordpress now provides OpenID service.Your blog url can be ur OpenID.

  2. I could imagine that by now you do need the answer but, this will be part of the information that you would allow the site to have or not to have. So, if the new site will ask you about leaving your dob you would choose not to give that info to them. the onlything you would type in will be yourname.openidsite.com and it will work like that. 😀
